Match All
When the match all option is selected, only those entries
are displayed which match everything you have entered in the
search form. This option is most likely to yield good results
if you know specific information such as dates and names. If
you are familiar with Boolean Searches or SQL Queries, this is
equivalent to connecting all of the fields together with AND.
Match Any
When the match any option is selected, every entry is
displayed which matchs anything you have entered in the
search form. This option is likely to list lots of
irrelevant entries. If you are familiar with Boolean Searches
or SQL Queries, this is equivalent to connecting the fields
together with OR.
Too Many Results
Sometimes, the database might find hundred of results that match
your request, in that case, we display a sample of the results.
To get results more relevant to your search, please retry an
advanced search using the "Match All" option, and supply more information.
Links in the Search Results
Clicking on a link in the search results searches
the database for similar sounding entries in the same column.
Soundex
Searches based on how a word sounds. If a phrase is entered,
only the first part of the phrase is indexed. Unless otherwise
specified the database does soundex searches.
Match Start of Word
Matches the beginning of a word of phrase. For example looking for
Cath would find Catholic, Cathy, and Cathmore, but not catfish.
Match Any Part of Word
Finds the word, by exact spelling, if it appears anywhere in the
database. (This is the slowest search option.)
Case Insensitive
The searchs are not sensitive to case.
